Wild beauty
Wild plants in my garden make seriously questioning the definition of "wild" !
Mock strawberry, Snake berry, False strawberry, aka Indian strawberry (Duchesnea indica) is a medicinal plant native to south and east Asia. It is considered a weed and differes from real strawberry / wild strawberry, as it has yellow flowers instead of white and the seeds are seen attached to the outside of the fruit instead of being embedded. I have a feeling that we dont have wild strawberries in Sri Lanka so I am tempted to call it Sri Lankan wild strawberry !
Even though it looks like true strawberry it is said to be edible but tasteless. The last fun fact is yet to be verified by yours truely !
